UIG Gamechanger is an insurance agent making strides in their business and their community. A Gamechanger is thinking outside the box and utilizing the opportunities available to them while serving their community in the best possible way. UIG continues to showcase these agents to give other agents ideas for their business, but we also want to recognize their hard work and dedication to succeed in this rewarding career.
So, this month, we are showcasing another one of our outstanding agents: Meet Julie from West Michigan. Julie has been associated with UIG for many years and can attest to the stability and growth she has acquired within the company!
How long have you been an agent?
I have been an agent for 17 years and have worked in the industry for 13 years. I had a 5-year break while doing other jobs. I got my license to supplement my teaching job.
How long have you been with UIG?
I have been with UIG for 11 years. I started off working as an Admin in their Grand Rapids office. I assisted with agent onboarding and submitting applications with the New Business team and I even did a little training. This was great training for going out into the field, as an agent.
What do you like most about being an agent?
I like being independent. In my previous jobs, the companies did “downsizing”, which eliminated my job. I wanted more control over my future. Being an agent gave me that freedom. Now I am in control of my future, and I am only accountable to myself, my clients, and my family. My educational background works well with my career, as I do not see myself as a salesperson. I educate my clients.
What do you think sets you apart from other agents in your area?
I am stubborn, and I take really good care of my clients. If something is wrong, I go the extra mile to get it corrected. I had to go all the way to the governor’s office for one of my clients! When Medicare told me no, I took it to the governor’s office and reinstated my client’s policy. It was the right thing to do.
How does UIG support your business efforts?
I was pleasantly surprised when I came from the career division to the brokerage division. It is very helpful to call and get assistance with resolving client issues, obtaining compliance information, and all the training they provide. I also like the social events they invite me to. I can converse with other agents in the industry. The brokerage team is a unifying force, and I do not feel like I am all alone.
Why did you choose UIG to work with?
I liked their model. I had worked with another agency, that did not support me at all. UIG has a robust volume of carriers, so I know I can find a plan that fits anyone. I started on the career side, which gave me great training and leads. Then, when the time was right, I moved over to brokerage to grow my business further.
What are some of your interests/activities?
I am a summer person. That is my favorite season. I like riding my motorcycle, reading, swimming, spending time with family, and traveling. I cannot wait for spring, as I am going on a cruise.
We admire Julie and her determination so very much. She will undoubtedly go the extra mile for her clients. We know she will continue to be a Senior Insurance Agent Industry Gamechanger! We’re thrilled to partner with her and see all she can accomplish!
