Final Thoughts Before AEP Ends
We know you’ve been busy during this AEP season, working seven days a week in many cases. But you are in the home stretch with just about a month left, and then you can rest. You should do a few things before AEP ends to make sure you keep the clients you have or gained during AEP.
Contact your clients before AEP ends. Your client will most likely receive phone calls, mail pieces, and watch TV commercials from the time you met with them until the end of AEP. They may have even been convinced to change their plan. Calling them before the end of AEP will ensure you don’t lose your client to another agent or call center. Joe Namath can be very convincing in his TV commercials! After all, remember the last application they sign is the one that is effective on January 1st.
Remind your clients when they should expect to hear from you. Remind your clients that you will follow up with them at the beginning of the year to make sure they’ve received their insurance card(s) and remind them of their benefits. Checking in on them is a great way to make sure they are all set and can potentially talk to them about ancillary products, if you did not during AEP.
Reach out to your local carrier reps. To capitalize on all your opportunities during AEP, you can reach out to carrier reps and ask if they have any booths or seminars, they may need help with. Sometimes agents who sign up for these in advance aren’t able to, and it’s the perfect opportunity for you to step in.
Stay tuned for next month, where we’ll talk about what you
need to be doing in January to keep your business thriving for the entire year.
