AHIP is Set to Launch on June 20th
Can it be time again for AHIP? Absolutely. AHIP for 2023 will launch on June 20th (2022). Are you prepared for this exam? Are you familiar with AHIP?

AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans) is an annual exam most insurance carriers require to sell Medicare Advantage products. Carriers require AHIP to assure agents are compliant with the latest CMS regulations and guidelines.
The AHIP exam will cover:
Medicare
- The basics of Medicare fee-for-service eligibility and benefits
- Different types of Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans
- Eligibility and coverage
- Nondiscrimination training
- Marketing and enrollment under the Medicare Advantage and Part D program requirements
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA)
- How to identify FWA
- An overview of the industry efforts in detecting fraud
- Legal tools to combat FWA
- Understand both the human and financial cost of FWA
- Review Medicare Parts C and D Fraud, Waste, and Abuse and General Compliance requirements
- Who commits FWA?
- Reporting FWA; loopholes and obligations
Some carriers require you to pass AHIP (with a 90% or better score) within the first three attempts. To sell Medicare Advantage products and continue receiving your renewal commissions, you must pass the AHIP exam. It’s a great idea to mark on your calendar what day you will take the AHIP exam. Putting the date on your calendar will ensure you have blocked off time to focus on the exam and encourage you to prepare for it. Having a great support staff doesn’t hurt either. The Brokerage Team at UIG is here to support you along the way. We have the best practices for achieving success! Reach out to us with any questions you might have.
How Much Does AHIP Cost?
It will cost you $175 to take the AHIP exam. However, many carriers will offer a $50 discount if you take the exam through them. The Brokerage Team can walk you through that process too.
Good luck with your AHIP exam!
